Common Questions & Answers

RAW Flag is now Rebranded

RAW Calgary Spring Flag Football League has now been rebranded as the 2026 Jr. Cardinals Flag Football League (Powered by RAW Sports).

So if you registered for the RAW Spring League, you’re still registered — it’s not a separate program, just a new name and an upgraded experience with direct Arizona Cardinals involvement, NFL Flag branding, and expanded teams across the city. More information can be found here on our website with an updated description.

Same great RAW coaching + development, now under the Jr. Cardinals name.

Friend Requests

Friend Requests are requests parents can place for their child to be on the same team as their friends, family or other.

We’ll always do our best to accommodate your requests. That said, we can’t guarantee friend requests, as our main goal is to create balanced teams to ensure a great experience for all players.

You can send us a Friend Request by filling in the “Order notes (optional)” during registration. If you have already registered and wish to put in a request, please email flag@rawsports.ca .

Here we will get your note and do our best to accommodate.

What is Evaluation Day?

Evaluation day is not a try out. It’s a fun, drill based session designed to help us create balanced teams across all skill levels. There are no cuts or tiered teams — every registered athlete plays.

Evaluations simply help us create balanced teams across all experience levels. So that games are competitive, development is appropriate and athletes stay confident and excited all season long.

Can My Child Still Play if They Miss Evaluation Day?

As for March 28th Evaluation Day, it’s totally okay if your child can’t make it. We understand families have conflicts, and they are still welcome to participate in the league. The evaluation day helps us place athletes appropriately, but it is not mandatory to attend.

Closer to the season, we will also send out a short questionnaire for families who are unable to attend evaluations, so we can still get a sense of each player’s experience level and help place them as fairly as possible.

Can My Child Play in Other Age Divisions?

Yes, your child can play up one division if they’re ready for the challenge.

How Many Players Are On Each Team?

Our target is 10 players per team. Team sizes may change depending on total registration numbers.

What Rules Do You Follow?

We follow official NFL Flag rules.

View the complete rule book here.

How Does Saturday Only Work?

Teams practice for approximately one hour on a nearby field, then play their game immediately after. Everything happens on Saturday.

What is The Size of The Football?

use age-appropriate footballs for all divisions:

U6 / U8: Mini
U10 / U12: Peewee
U14 / U16: Junior

Sizes may vary slightly based on availability and division needs.
