We are extremely proud of our Jr. Cardinals All-Star teams who competed this past weekend at the NFL Flag Regional Tournament in Edmonton. With extremely limited time to put teams together, practice, and prepare, our players still managed to deliver a tournament to remember. As an organization, we went 9-3 across the day, made it to two championship games, and brought home one title. This is a huge first step for our program, and we are excited to build on this success moving forward.

The U10 Jr. Cardinals went 3-0 in pool play, defeating the Cobra Chickens 32-0, South Calgary Flag Football 38-13, and the Sherwood Park Pick 6’s 14-8. They carried that form into the single-elimination final, shutting out the Pick 6’s 29-0 to claim the division title. The team finished with 84 points scored and 21 allowed across all games, capping off an undefeated day and bringing home a championship for the program. With the regional title in hand, our U10’s will be heading to Ottawa on June 26th to compete at the NFL Flag National Championship tournament.

The U14 Jr. Cardinals had a dominant tournament, going 3-0 in pool play without allowing a single point. They followed that up with a 34-7 win over the Calgary Elite Wolverines in the bracket before falling in the championship final. The team finished with a remarkable 141-28 points for versus points against, a testament to how well they played on both sides of the ball throughout the day.

The U12 Jr. Cardinals opened pool play with a 22-0 win over the Dragons before dropping their next two games to the two teams that ultimately met in the championship final. Drawing one of the toughest pools of the day, the team competed hard against the eventual finalists, and the experience will serve them well as the program continues to grow.
Final Thoughts
All three teams represented the league exceptionally well in Edmonton, and the fact that they performed at this level with so little preparation time speaks volumes about the talent and character of our players and coaches. More tournaments are on the horizon, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for our Jr. Cardinals program.
