2023 RAW Fraser Valley Spring Football Camp Award Winners

The RAW Sports Chilliwack weekend camp had over 100 participants and featured some of the best talent in the Fraser Valley as well as many players who travelled to Chilliwack from across BC and even a few from Alberta.

The weekend featured a full pro-style combine followed by over 10 hours of individual position specific skill development which consisted of indy, 1-on-1s, skelly, trench challenges, special teams drills, and much more.

At the end of the camp, positional coaches picked an MVP at each position and collectively selected an Offensive MVP, Defensive MVP, and Leadership award winner. This camp was loaded with talent which made decisions extremely difficult for RAW Coaches. Checkout all of the award winners below:

Grade 8-12s

Offensive MVP: Sam Pratt, REC, W.J. Mouat, Class of 2023

“Sam Pratt stood out immediately as he was able to demonstrate that he is capable of running every route in the route tree. His willingness to go get the ball and separate himself from defenders are what won him the MVP award!” – Jalen Philpot (CGY Stampeders REC).

“Sam displayed the skillset and intangibles that are needed to excel at the USport level. I am looking forward to seeing where he lands this offseason.” – Robert Woodson (RAW Sports Co-owner).

Defensive MVP: Dawson Hendriks, DL, Robert Bateman, Class of 2024

Leadership Award: Cody Hagel, REC, Class of 2027

“Cody has all of the intangibles that make up a great leader. This was exemplified by Cody coming out and supporting his teammates despite being injured on the last day of the camp. Cody always sets the standard when it comes to effort & attitude.” – Robert Woodson (RAW Co-owner).

QB MVP: Jackson Di Guistini, QB, W.J. Mouat, Class of 2024

“Jackson is a QB that has a ton of arm talent, displaying the ability to make any throw necessary at the high school and U Sport level. His throwing mechanics are fantastic and he possesses the intangibles that coaches look for in their quarterbacks. I’m excited to see what he puts on tape at WJ Mouat next season.” – Mason Nyhus (UBC Football QB Coach, 2022 USports CanWest Player of the Year).

“Coming into the camp, I wasn’t really sure what to expect from the LB group. Immediately on day one of the weekend, Khayman Alex stood out with his great attitude and attention to detail. I could tell right away that he was a super coachable kid that really wanted to learn and get better. He improved throughout the camp and really shined on day 3’s tackling periods.
