Playoffs are here, and the semifinals delivered everything you’d want from a Saturday at Shouldice Park: one-point thrillers, big individual days, and a handful of teams punching their tickets to next week’s championships. Every bracket played its 1-vs-4 and 2-vs-3 semis, with winners advancing to the Week 7 finals. Both U6 semis went to the higher seed, but not without a fight. The NW Cardinals advanced behind a balanced rushing attack, with Anthony Greco and Sully Espina each scoring twice and Anthony Woodson adding one. The SW Cardinals edged SAT Cardinals 24-20 in a tight one, getting two rushing scores apiece from Lubanzi Jagger and Lucas Eissfeldt to hold off a three-touchdown day from SAT’s Bennett Sayer. NW Cardinals and SW Cardinals advance to the U6 final.

A loaded day in U8. Eli Woodson powered the NW Bird Gang to a 26-7 win with three rushing touchdowns and a stop on defense. The NW Cardinals won their second straight one-point thriller, holding off the NW Snowbirds 19-18 behind two scores from Vaughn Sourisseau, with Charles Rendle adding another. Trey Chibhukira did everything he could for the Snowbirds, scoring on the ground and returning an interception, but it wasn’t quite enough. The SE Cardinals advanced 40-26, with Ariel Gomez-Pizarro and Kane Perchard each running for hat tricks, and the NE Cardinals advanced past SW Cardinals 21-12 behind three different scorers. Rory Rosen scored twice in the loss for SW, the second straight week he’s found the end zone twice. NW Bird Gang, NW Cardinals, SE Cardinals, and NE Cardinals all advance.

A wild day in U10, with three games decided by a single point. The SW Cardinals survived 20-19 over the NW Cardinals behind Benson Bigley, who scored three different ways; rushing, receiving, and on a pick-six. The NW Marvins Marvels won 14-12 on the strength of a two-point convert from Maximus Tarasoff, the exact margin of the game. The NW Night Train edged the SAT Cardinals 27-26 in another nail-biter, with Easton Headley running for all four of his team’s touchdowns. The NW Bird Gang advanced 24-19, getting a touchdown pass, rushing score, and pick-six from Ben Lydiatt, while Oskar Malloy threw two scores. The SE Bird Gang and SW Bird Gang rounded out the winners.
Player Spotlight, U10: Roman Cheeseman, SE Bird Gang, and Benson Bigley, SW Cardinals. Cheeseman scored four touchdowns three different ways. Three rushing, one receiving, plus an interception on defense, backing up his dominant Week 5. Bigley matched the three-way feat in a one-point win, scoring on the ground, through the air, and on a pick-six.

The biggest slate of the day. The NW Cardinals opened with a 21-0 shutout, and Connor Balla picked up right where his Week 5 spotlight left off, scoring on a touchdown pass, a rushing touchdown, and a pick-six. The SE Cardinals rolled behind Levi Sullivan, who accounted for five touchdowns, three rushing and two passing, both to Ira Wirsta. The SW Marvins Marvels forced five interceptions, taking two back for scores, while the NW Tillmans Troopers closed the day with a win in which Remi Clattenburg threw six touchdown passes and the defense returned several interceptions for touchdowns. The SW Cardinals took a defensive battle 7-6 on the strength of a single convert, and the NW Marvins Marvels advanced by forfeit.
Player Spotlight, U12: Levi Sullivan, SE Cardinals, and Connor Balla, NW Cardinals. Sullivan was responsible for five touchdowns in a 38-2 win, three on the ground and two through the air. Balla followed his Week 5 spotlight with a touchdown pass, a rushing score, and a pick-six in a 21-0 shutout.

A physical, high-scoring day in U14. The NW Marvins Marvels won a 46-33 shootout behind Luke Strowger’s perfect 5-for-5 passing line with five touchdowns plus a rushing score. The NW Tillmans Troopers advanced behind Remi Clattenburg, who threw six touchdowns — four to Jaiden Garcia Adatia, who also ran for two and added an interception return. The SAT Bird Gang edged the NW Cardinals 24-22 in a thriller decided by two defensive touchdowns, with Elliott Laird and Jameson Walker each returning interceptions for scores. Joewel Lewis was everywhere for NW in the loss, scoring on the ground, returning two interceptions, and adding a defensive convert. The NE Cardinals advanced 30-14 behind Luciano Mancini’s four touchdown passes.

The SE Bird Gang and SW Bird Gang traded blows in a 31-28 shootout, with Tanner Hill throwing four scores, three to Silas Poynton, while Scott Piovoso scored three different ways in the loss. The SAT Cardinals advanced 28-14 behind a big day from the Centrone brothers, the NW Marvins Marvels won 26-12, and the NW Cardinals advanced by forfeit. SE Bird Gang and NW Marvins Marvels move on to the U16 final.
