RAW Sports Camps
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything parents and athletes ask us about RAW camps, from registration and gear to combines and refunds. Can't find your answer? We are one email away.
Registration and Payment
Who can attend a RAW camp?
RAW camps are built for athletes from ages 4 to 18. Each camp lists its own age range, and ages are based on the athlete's age as of January 1 of the camp year. Athletes are grouped by age so the coaching fits their level, from our Fire Ants program (ages 4 to 7) all the way up to high school camps.
Where do you run camps?
RAW runs camps in over 17 cities across Canada, including Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Grande Prairie, Medicine Hat, Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, Victoria, Kelowna, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Hamilton, Ottawa and New Brunswick. We work with over 3,500 players every year. Browse all current camps on our Programs page.
How do I register?
Head to our Programs page, filter by city, age group or season, pick your camp and check out online. You will get a confirmation email once your spot is locked in.
How do I pick the right age group?
Age groups are based on your athlete's age as of January 1 of the camp year, not their current grade or team level. Each camp page lists its age groups, and you choose the right one at checkout.
Do camps sell out?
Yes. Many of our camps fill up, and every one of our winter camps sold out last season. We recommend registering early to guarantee a spot, and some camps offer early bird pricing for families who sign up ahead of the deadline.
How do I find out when new camps are announced?
New camps and registration openings are posted on our Programs page. Check back often so you do not miss early bird pricing.
What payment options do you offer?
You can pay in full with credit or debit, or split your payments using Affirm (monthly instalments) or Sezzle (interest-free biweekly payments).
Is there financial support available?
We believe cost should never keep a kid on the sidelines. Families can apply for funding through Canadian Tire Jumpstart and KidSport. RAW also offers scholarship opportunities for athletes who could not otherwise attend. Email info@rawsports.ca to ask about a scholarship.
The Camp Experience
What types of camps do you offer?
- Summer camps: one-week camps in cities across Canada.
- Winter camps: weekly indoor sessions from January to March, with one-day or two-day per week options.
- Weekend camps: multi-day camps in select cities, including combine testing.
- Fire Ants: an intro to football for ages 4 to 7.
- High school camps: built for athletes getting ready for the next level.
Does my athlete need football experience?
No. Our camps welcome athletes of every experience level, from first-timers to high school starters. Athletes are grouped by age, and our coaches meet each player where they are.
Are girls welcome at RAW camps?
Absolutely. RAW camps are open to all athletes. We also run a Female Flag Football Training Program in Calgary.
Who coaches at RAW camps?
RAW was founded by Anthony and Robert Woodson, Calgary natives and former CFL players. Our coaching staff includes current and former CFL players, U SPORTS coaches and players, and NCCP-certified trainers.
What will my athlete work on?
Every camp combines position-specific coaching, football fundamentals, athletic development (movement mechanics, speed and agility, plyometrics and strength) and game-like competition. We also coach the person, not just the player: hard work, discipline, teamwork, respect and sportsmanship are built into every session.
Do you have programs for younger kids?
Yes. Fire Ants is our program for ages 4 to 7, focused on fun, confidence with the football and physical literacy, with no contact. Our Fall Speed Academy (ages 6 to 12) builds speed, agility and movement skills that carry over to every sport.
Are winter camps indoors?
Yes. Winter camps run in indoor facilities such as domes and turf training centres, so sessions go ahead all winter long. The venue is listed on each camp page.
Which positions do you coach?
We coach every position: QB, receiver, running back, offensive line, defensive line, linebacker and defensive back. Select camps also offer kicking.
What is the difference between non-contact and shells camps?
Non-contact camps focus on skills, footwork and fundamentals. No helmet or shoulder pads are needed, just cleats.
Shells contact camps are run in helmets and shoulder pads so athletes can work on blocking, tackling technique and competitive team periods. The camp listing will tell you which type it is.
Is RAW Sports sanctioned?
Yes. RAW programs are sanctioned by the provincial sport organization in each province where we operate. RAW is proudly sponsored by NFL Canada, which powers a number of our camps.
Are any camps connected to university or NFL programs?
Yes. Our Vancouver summer camp runs in partnership with UBC Football, and a number of RAW camps are powered by the NFL. RAW also works with the Arizona Cardinals and the Minnesota Vikings on youth football events.
Does camp include film?
Many RAW camps include film sessions where coaches break down technique with athletes, and select camps upload film to Hudl. Check the camp listing to see what is included at your location.
Combines, Awards and Recruiting
Do your camps include combine testing?
Select camps include a pro-style combine using NFL-grade laser timing. Testing can include height, weight, 40-yard dash, 5-10-5 shuttle, broad jump and vertical jump.
Where do combine results go?
Combine results are added to the RAW Sports athlete database, which coaches and scouts across the country use to find athletes. It is searchable by position, city, graduation year and testing results.
Are there awards at camp?
Yes. Our coaches name MVPs at each camp, including offensive, defensive and position awards. Camp MVPs are featured on the RAW blog and social channels.
What is the RAW Elite Camp?
The RAW Elite Camp (also known as the All-Star Camp) is our invite-only event held in Calgary each December. It brings together the top athletes from every RAW camp across Canada for combine testing, film, position work and competition, and university scouts are invited to attend. Invites are based on performance at RAW camps throughout the year.
Can RAW help with university recruiting?
Our athlete database, Elite Camp and recruiting resources are all built to get athletes seen. You can also watch our free recruiting seminar recordings with the Calgary Dinos and UBC Football to learn how the recruiting process works.

Do you offer equipment rentals outside Calgary?
Equipment rentals are currently available for Calgary camps only. Athletes at other locations should bring their own gear or borrow from their team.
Is there an athletic therapist on site?
Yes. Every RAW camp has an athletic therapist on site.
